HVCH Foundation, Auxiliary purchase new patient monitors

Hocking Valley Community Hospital Foundation and Hocking Valley Community Hospital Auxiliary funded the recent purchase of five new patient monitors for the hospital’s surgery department.

The Foundation donated $40,000 and the Auxiliary donated $27,000 for the monitors. These provide consistent monitoring of patients during some of the most critical times both before and after surgery.

Additionally, the monitors track all the patient’s vital signs including blood pressure, heart rate and rhythm, respiratory rate, and blood oxygen levels, and have the capability to speak directly to the hospital’s electronic health record system, allowing staff more time to care for patients.

HVCH transitioning urgent care into single emergency department starting July 1, 2026

By centralizing services within the Emergency Department, patients will benefit from a streamlined experience with one convenient access point. The ED will continue to care for minor illnesses and injuries while offering the added advantage of immediate access to emergency-level evaluation and treatment if needed. With 24/7 availability, the community can rely on continuous access to care around the clock.

While patients will be registered as Emergency Department visits, costs will vary based on individual insurance coverage; hospital financial support applications remain available to everyone.
